I have several individuals with ADHD in my life.

My mum, uncle, 3 closest friends and some of their family members.

I really struggle to be around any of them nowadays. It’s impossible to have a conversation … unless we’re talking about them or what they want to talk about. They constantly interrupt, talk over the top of me, and hijack the conversation. They ask questions about my life but then don’t listen to my response 😯

It can knock my confidence and leave me feeling frazzled. I can’t think of anything I can do to make visiting them a positive experience. 🙁

Anyone else with similar experience? Or anyone here with ADHD? 🙏🏽

Hi Sherry – this sounds like a very trying experience that you go through a lot with so many people in your close circle. I don’t have that exact thing in my life, but have had other narcissistic people who have similar ways of relating. The main thing that has helped me was learning about boundaries and how to set them and speak up for myself. Also it has been very helpful to find other people who will affirm and support me — like the new tribe that people have mentioned here. I hope others will respond to your post with their experiences and ways of navigating these situations and I hope you’ll find your way to being your true self in these relationships.
